BPL board to consider Q1 results on July 21: BPL Ltd will hold its board meeting in Bangalore on July 21 to consider the unaudited financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 1998.

BEML board meet on July 20: A meeting of the board of directors of Bharat Earth Movers Ltd will be held on July 20 to consider the financial results for the year ended March 31 and quarter ended June 30, 1998.

Balco bauxite output falls: Balco produced 21,800 tonne of bauxite in June, which was 3,700 tonne less than its monthly target. The company produced 7,204 tonne of saleable aluminium last month, according to an official release. The public sector undertaking also made 145 tonne of rolled products, extrusions and foils at it Bidhanbag unit, apart from 207 tonne of aluminium dross.

SS Ghosh appointed CMC chairman: SS Ghosh has been appointed chairman and managing director of CMC Ltd. Ghosh has taken over from RP Jhunjhunuwala. Prior to being elevated to the post of CMD, Ghosh was director,technical, and headed the IT support function in CMC. An alumni of IIT Kharagpur and IIM Ahmedabad, he started his career with IBM. After completing 13 years with the company, Ghosh moved on to CMC. He was on the company's board for the last three years.

Wockhardt Hospital ties up with BUPA: The Bangalore-based Wockhardt Hospital & Heart Institute has entered into an alliance with the British United Provident Association (BUPA) for cardiac services. According to Vishal Bali, centre manager, Wockhardt Hospital, the pact will make accessible to more than 7 million people around the world the Indian hospital's facilities in angiographies, angioplasties and bypass surgeries. BUPA is a leading provider of healthcare services and insurance programmes in the UK and Europe.
