Aamir Khan’s version of the Dangal song Dhaakad was released today and it’s everything it was touted to be. Dangal is expected to take theatres by storm this Friday and just when fans’ anticipation had reached a peak, Aamir gave us something new to gush over. This time, it’s the actor’s version of Dhaakad – a tribute to the strength of women. The original, which was sung was Raaftar, got a great response for its empowering theme and catchy tune, according to Zee News, but Aamir’s version gives us a new kind of thrill.
Watch the video here:
The video itself is visually impressive, starting out with the 3 Idiots actor sitting on a throne, which is being pulled forward by a chain of wrestlers. Aamir’s getup includes a grey hoodie, a sleeveless shirt, skinny black pants and combat boots. He’s accessorized it with an earring, kohl eyes and a fashionable chain wrapped around one wrist. The look is a perfect mix of hip hop and Aamir’s quirky persona. If PK taught us anything, it’s that Aamir will perfect any accent his character is meant to have and that’s true with Dangal as well. Dhaakad is sung in perfect Haryanvi rap and it’s almost difficult to imagine that it’s a Mumbai native doing the vocals.

The choreography smartly incorporates wrestling-like moves to add to the feel of the song. While the video most focuses on Aamir, his Dangal daughters Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh also make an appearance. Similar to the original Dhaakad, the girls are seen tossing men left and right like it’s nothing. Aamir returned to the recording studio for Dhaakad after 18 years since singing Aati Kya Khandala in Ghulam in 1998. That song went on to become a huge hit and we’re sure Dhaakad is going to find the same success with listeners.
