Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet Ek Prem Katha has managed to bring the numbers over the weekend with Sunday collections standing at Rs 8.25 crore, as per Bollywood Hungama report. The film has found audiences in the second weekend as well and that too when there is competition from Hollywood horror movie Annabelle: Creation and Bareilly Ki Barfi. The film took 8 days to cross Rs 100 crore mark. Currently, Toilet Ek Prem Katha has earned an overall of Rs 115.05. Famous movie critic and biz analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and said,#ToiletEkPremKatha has a GLORIOUS Weekend 2… [Week 2] Fri 4 cr, Sat 6.75 cr, Sun 8.25 cr. Total: ₹ 115.05 cr. India biz. #TEPK”. He added,”#ToiletEkPremKatha is all set to challenge *lifetime biz* of #RowdyRathore [Akshay’s highest grosser]… Weekdays/Weekend 3 crucial… #TEPK.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan forms the basic plot of “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha”. Akshay has been made the brand ambassador of the Swachh Bharat Mission in Uttar Pradesh. Akshay says the clean India movement requires the participation of the whole country. His other movies that crossed the 100 crore mark are Holiday (Rs. 113 crore), Housefull 3 (Rs. 109 crore), Jolly LLB 2 (Rs. 117 crore) and Housefull 2 (Rs. 116 crore), Rustom (Rs. 128 crore) and Airlift (Rs. 129 crore).
Meanwhile, Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon starrer Bareilly Ki Barfi managed to collect Rs 3.85 crores on Saturday. Bareilly Ki Barfi has so far earned Rs 11.3 crore. Adarsh took to Twitter and said,”#BareillyKiBarfi springs a surprise, after starting at low levels on Fri morning… Has to maintain the steady pace on weekdays… #BKB.” The Hollywood flick Annabelle: Creation has had a decent grossing of Rs 4.50 crore.
