Bollywood’s youth sensation Ranveer Singh is receiving accolades for playing the character of Sultan Alauddin Khilji extremely well in his recently released flick ‘Padmaavat’. However, enacting the character wasn’t a cake-walk for him. There was someone who helped Ranveer Singh to look convincing as the menacing Alauddin Khilji on screen and now, the actor has taken to social media to thank that special someone for making his character look fearsome. That someone is the make-up, hair and prosthetic designer of Padmaavat, Preetisheel Singh. She was the one who helped Ranveer look like the ferocious Sultan. When a Twitter fan asked Ranveer about how he got his evil look as Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, the actor promptly replied saying, “Umm. Well, Preetisheel and Sanjay Sir should be given credit for the look, really. Baaki I internalised… some…. err… dark shit… and every expression, mannerism, the whole vibe and energy of the character just followed as a result.”
Notably, Preetisheel Singh has worked with various actors in some of the topmost advertisements and Bollywood movies. Her repertoire includes projects such as Housefull 3, Mom, the Tamil film 24, Brothers, Rangoon, Parched, Shivaay, Talwar, House Next Door, Haider, Ghayal Once Again, Finding Fanny, Hawaizaada as well as the pre-Mughal historical epic Nanak Shah Fakir, for which she won the ‘National Film Award for Best Makeup’.

Preetisheel has also set up India’s first make-up and prosthetic lab called Da Makeup Lab in Mumbai and she says her goal is to bring standards of make-up and prosthetics in India at par with Hollywood. Her future projects include movies like the Amitabh Bachchan-Rishi Kapoor-starrer 102 Not Out, Vikramaditya Motwane’s Bhavesh Joshi, Sunny Deol’s son Karan Deol’s debut film Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, Rishi Kapoor-starrer Mulk and the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer Thackeray to name a few.
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan also praised Ranveer Singh’s performance in Padmaavat saying, “So sorry didn’t realise it was u, cos now u r Khilji for me. Bahut acchhi picture hai bhai..I saw it and loved it,” in a tweet.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat is doing exceptionally well at the box office and has already collected over Rs 192.50 crore.
