Simran movie review: Kangana Ranaut surely knows how to own the silver screen and her latest release Simran is a perfect example. There is no doubt of the fact that audiences will be thronging theatres to watch Simran for only one reason and that is Kangana herself and Bollywood’s Queen has made sure that the reason is valid. Kangana is playing the character of a 30-year-old Gujju girl who is divorced but is undaunted by the challenges she faces. Praful Patel (Kangana), unlike any other girl, yearns for simple pleasures in life whose character is marred by three flaws, alcoholic, kleptomaniac, and a gambler. The story unfolds in Georgia where Praful, a housekeeper living with her strict father and a helpless mother wants to enjoy life on her own terms. But soon her character flaws land her in big trouble, what happens next is what Simran keeps you glued to the screen.

Kangana puts up an enchanting performance on screen and single handedly gets the story going. You will love her as Praful who is funny, quirky and chooses to be the man of her own life. But on one hand, where Kangana lives up to the audience’s expectation, the flawed writing and execution causes the film’s downfall. The writing is debatable in some parts and the story becomes exhausting . There are character flaws and that’s where the film goes for a toss. It is hard to believe how a bank robber who leaves behind fingerprints and follows the same modus operandi remains at large. Ketan Mehta tries hard to make you believe in what is taking place on screen but then you can hardly put yourself in those shoes.
The supporting cast does an average job altogether. Soham Shah who plays Kangana’s love interest in the movie doesn’t have much to showcase. Kangana’s latest movie is surely going to benefit from her recent verbal spat with various industry people. In case you want to catch the movie this weekend, the sole reason to drive you to the theatres should be KANGANA!
