Shot in the form of a biopic on Tendulkar, the film provides the fans of ‘master blaster’ a unique opportunity to relive the moments of his playing days. For this reason, the movie was called “an exception” in its genre in terms of Box Office collection by film critic and analyst Taran Adarsh. The trade analyst, while sharing the first weekend collection of the movie had tweeted, “#SachinABillionDreams has a WONDERFUL opening weekend… Generally, docu-dramas have dim prospects at BO, but this one is an exception…”

The docu-drama directed by James Erskine featuring music by musical maestro AR Rahman has been released in 2,800 screens worldwide in five languages including Hindi, English, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.

The biopic not only managed to do well in the face of SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’, which has been dominating the Box Office for weeks, but also competed with Hollywood release ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ starring Johnny Depp, which proved no opposition to it. “#SachinABillionDreams faced a tough opponent in the Hollywood biggie #PiratesOfTheCaribbean, but it proved no opposition, frankly…” Adarsh had tweeted.
