‘Roy’ had fared averagely initially despite Ranbir Kapoor’s presence and earned Rs 10.40 crore and Rs 11.16 crore in box office collections on Friday and Saturday respectively across India.

‘Roy’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez, had an average opening week, with its box office collections falling far short of the opening week performance of Akshay’s Kumar’s ‘Baby’. While ‘Baby’ collected Rs 63.82 crore in the first seven days, ‘Roy’ box office collections could not even cross Rs 50 crore.

With just Rs 2.76 crore from Thursday (Day 7), Roy’s business now stands at Rs 41.77 crore as Vikramjit Singh’s film fails to impress the crowd due to its confusing plot.

Roy had fared averagely initially despite Ranbir Kapoor’s presence and earned Rs 10.40 crore and Rs 11.16 crore on Friday and Saturday respectively across India. The India-Pakistan match hampered its collection on Sunday, but Roy still managed to earn Rs 7.12 crore to close the opening weekend at Rs 28.68 crore.

Take the opinion poll:

As Manoj Desai of G7 Cinemas suggested, “Roy hasn’t fared as we expected it to. It had maximum occupancy on Saturday, owing to Valentine’s Day. It had an occupancy of around 70 per cent till Sunday, which has reduced to 40 per cent on Monday.

Very boring movie. Only making a film look good with nice cinematography and camera work does not make it a good film. In that case, Saanwariya would have been a great work.
