Television and film actor Mukesh Rawal, best known for playing Vibhishan’s role in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana was found dead near Mumbai’s Kandivali railway track on Tuesday morning. His family members confirmed his death in a train accident.
The body was found on the tracks between Borivali and Kandivali railway stations, Commissioner of Railway Police Niket Kaushik said. “Initially, we could not find anything on the body to identify. Railway Police had issued his photographs at all police stations. “His son-in-law came at the Kandivali railway station in search of Rawal, who had gone missing. The officials then sent him to a hospital where he identified the body,” the Commissioner of Police said.
The 65-year-old actor was travelling for a dubbing project but he met with an accident on Monday night, confirmed family. “His dead body was found today morning at a railway track in Mumbai. He died in a train accident. We haven’t got the body yet for the last rites. It is still in the morgue,” Rawal’s cousin sister-in-law Tejal Rawal told indianexpress.com.
While the family was claiming it was an accident some media reports suggested it was suicide, because the body was found at a railway track but family refuted the reports.
The actor’s cremation will take place on Wednesday night in Mumbai.
Rawal was a popular Gujarati film artist and appeared in Bollywood movies like, Zid, Satta, Auzaar, Kasak, Lahu ke do rang and Majhdhaar. He was last seen in 2014 Gujarati movie, Sathiyo Chalyo Khodaldham.
