PadMan box office collection: This Akshay Kumar starrer and Padmaavat started the year 2018 with a bang for Bollywood even as Salman Khan starrer Tiger Zinda Hai ended the year 2017 in similar fashion for the industry! After Khan ruled the silver screen for weeks, both Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone have grabbed eyeballs with their stunning performances in their respective films. While PadMan, which was released on February 9, after a slow opening, has risen significantly over the weekend to earn just over Rs 40 crore, Padmaavat collection witnessed a big spurt this weekend too and it is now nearing the Rs 250 cr mark!

Well after Toilet Ek Prem Katha, PadMan is being recognised for the strong content and its extremely relevant social message and this helped the film to gather momentum from Friday evening onwards. The story has been inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganatham a social activist from Tamil Nadu. It was Muruganatham who revolutionized the concept of personal hygiene during the menstrual cycle in rural India by creating low-cost sanitary pads. The film has been released across 3350 screens worldwide with 2750 domestic and 600 overseas.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer Padmaavat movie, which revolves around Alauddin Khilji, Rani Padmavati and Maharana Rawal Ratan Singh, is breaking big BO barriers ever since its release. After crossing the hurdles of a threatened ban on its release following the protests and threats from fringe groups, the film stormed into the Rs 200 crore exclusive club in just 11 days. Padmaavat by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is cruising at the box office after garnering praise from critics and audience alike. It is not long before the film will eventually break the Rs 250 crore mark. Till now the film has grossed a total of Rs 245.80 cr. Film critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and said, “#Padmaavat is back in form on Sat… Witnesses BIG JUMP… Will cross ₹ 250 cr today… [Week 3] Fri 3.50 cr, Sat 6.30 cr. Total: ₹ 245.80 cr.
