Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat has left behind its troublesome past, which the movie faced before release, and now, there seems to be no end to its record-setting spree. After becoming the highest earning movie of its lead actors, Padmaavat has achieved yet another feat. The movie has left behind Salman Khan starrer Kick in terms of box-office collection. It took Padmaavat just two weeks to surpass the lifetime collection of Salman’s blockbuster Kick. The lifetime collection of Kick was Rs 232 crore, while Padmaavat has so far minted Rs 235.5 crore on the box office and is still running strong. Padmaavat has the potential to surpass the lifetime collection of Aamir Khan’s superhit Dhoom 3 as well. The lifetime collection of Dhoom 3 is a whopping Rs 284 crore, however, going by the steady performance Padmaavat, collecting 50 crore more is very likely, according to Bollywood Hungama.
On a cautionary note, with the release of Akshay Kumar starrer Padman, the movie might face a slow-down at the box-office. However, Padmaavat has witnessing an increasing craze among cinephiles and thereby, the movie has good chances of surviving the Padman threat.
With “Padmaavat”s stupendous box office success, Ranveer Singh has become the youngest actor whose film has crossed Rs. 200-crore mark. “Padmaavat” is Deepika and Ranveer’s third hit film with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, after Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani.
