It seems that supporting the Centre’s demonetisation move has become problamatic for Superstar Rajinikanth, as acclaimed director, producer and actor Ameer Sultan has strongly criticized him on the issue. He also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing this step and said that he became the PM only with the support of advertisements and publicity.
Ameer, who is known for the film Paruthiveeran, targetted PM Modi in a public gathering. He said that Modi became the prime minister only because of getting the support of film stars like Rajinikanth and Pawan Kalyan. Referring the Superstar hailing the move, he alleged that tickets of Rajinikanths latest movie ‘Kabali’ were sold at a higher price than what government fixed and that amounted to black money. “Is he not he aware of it? Is he ready to submit a white paper on the ticket rates and collections made by the film?,” Ameer was quoted by Indiaglitz.

Soon after the announcement to ban Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, Rajinikanth welcomed the step and twitted “Hats off @narendramodi ji. New India is born #JaiHind,”. Besides him, Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Dhanush, Trisha Krishnan and others also welcomed the Centre’s step.
The actor has not yet given any reaction on Ameer’s remarks.
Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan cheered the step and saluted PM Modi. “Every bold and inspirational move is initially met with resistance. It’s only in hindsight that people will appreciate the strength of this move against black money. I salute our PM. This is radical but it’s a first step to his promise of eradication of malpractices. It will also rein in counterfeiters. Bravo!!,” the actor quoted by DNA.
