Singer Nick Jonas said his diabetes can be hard to live with. The 23-year-old “Chains” hitmaker said he has to be very careful about his diet, ever since he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 10 years ago, reported Female First.
“I live a pretty low-carb life. I wish I was eating pancakes all the time. That would be so much fun! When I do, it’s whole wheat or buckwheat,” he said.
The former Jonas Brothers band member said he was terrified when he was first diagnosed with the blood sugar disease.
“It was scary. The initial step was to learn as much as possible… About carbohydrates and sugar intake, and how that would affect my levels,” Nick Jonas shared.
“I’ve had a couple of diabetic episodes. Most recently, I was walking home and out of nowhere I felt my sugar drop. I was in an elevator, luckily with a friend, when I started to pass out. I got to my room and got some juice and snacks to get my sugar up,” he added.
But the “Jealous” hitmaker refuses to let the disease affect his entire life.
“I might have to take extra precautions, like checking my blood sugar, but I don’t let diabetes hold me back.”
