Salman Khan might be one of the biggest superstars of Indian Television but he is failing to dethrone the legendary Amitabh Bachchan as the Badshah of Indian television. Even though Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati may be in its ninth season, its popularity hasn’t reduced. According to the latest data provided by BARC (Broadcast Audience Research Council), Kaun Banega Crorepati 9 was the most-watched show on Indian television between September 30 and October 6, leaving behind many soap operas and reality shows.
The data available on the Broadcast Audience Research Council India website, KBC earned 11533000 impressions in week 40. It was followed by Kundali Bhagya in the second spot, Kaala Teeka in third, Kumkum Bhagya in fourth and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi in fifth. KBC’s rating might have got a major boost with Anamika Majumdar’s episode which was aired in the first week of October. Majumdar who is a social worker from Jamshedpur won Rs 1 crore on KBC.
Apart from this, host Amitabh Bachchan also celebrated his 75th birthday with the audience on the sets as well and a special clip of his school in Nainital was also played in his honour, which made the veteran actor emotional. This episode too must have got a decent viewership.
On the other hand, Bigg Boss 11 which started on October 1 failed to find a place even in the first five shows despite so much drama happening inside the house. One reason behind this low rating could be that this year there are not many popular celebrity faces inside the house. Despite that, it is a big blow to Salman Khan and Colors TV who would be been hoping for a rocking start to the new season of Bigg Boss.
Bigg Boss 11 contestants include TV actor Hiten Tejwani, Hina Khan, Shilpa Shinde dancer Sapna Chaudhary, rapper Akash Dadlani and TV producer Vikas Gupta among others. Teenage sensation Priyank Sharma was eliminated by Salman Khan for breaking the house rules last week.
