Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is back on the silver screen with the ninth edition of his classical game show Kaun Banega Crorepati. It was indeed a sheer delight for the viewers when Big B greeted them all in his intimate, profound and very famous lines ‘Deviyoon aur Sajanno…’ The first episode of the ninth season of the game show was aired on August 28 on Sony Entertainment Television and as promised by the makers, it was an absolute paisa vasool package for the viewers. Suited up in a black bandhgala, Amitabh Bachchan looked as graceful and charming as ever. The episode started with a 2-minute short film that was aimed at answering all those questions that hound us.

Amitabh Bachchan then, with his enviable charm and charisma, explained the contestants about the new rules and started the game with the fastest-finger-first round. It was a Hisar-based teacher Saroj Varma who became the first to take the hot seat of the ninth season. However, she did not manage to win much.

As KBC has now become one of the most popular and oldest game shows of the country, this time contestants have arrived even from tier II and III cities such as Nagpur, Bhojawas, Hisar, Thanjavur, Nalanda and others. The questions asked by the iconic host ranged from fields like history, current affairs, literature and politics.

With an aim to give a boost to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative, the prize money is now given via online transfers. However, makers have not removed the act of Bachchan signing cheques and handing them over to the winners, but it’s just a symbolic gesture now. Being one of the major sponsors of the show, Reliance Jio is one of the main attractions with options like Jio chat and Jio video call being introduced as lifelines.

The maximum prize money of the show is now Rs 7 crore, but for contestants what goes parallel is the absolute serendipity of seeing Amitabh Bachchan and now contestants can even click selfies with him.
