Jagga Jasoos box office collection: Ranbir Kapoor has promised to do a Salman Khan as far as money is concerned. Ranbir said that if his upcoming film Jagga Jasoos does not earn well at the box office, he will pay the distributors from his own pocket. He made this statement days after Khan decided to compensate Tubelight’s distributors after a tepid response at the box office – reportedly, he will be paying back a huge sum of money. Kapoor told PTI, “It has been going on since my grandfather’s (Raj Kapoor) time in the 1950s… It is a healthy exercise. If someone loses money on something and you have made money out of it, it’s good to compensate. But that depends on person to person and film to film. Like when Mera Naam Joker released, distributors incurred losses. And when Bobby released, my grandfather gave a bigger share to the distributors than the exhibitors.”
The musical adventure that releases all over India tomorrow also stars Katrina Kaif and is directed by Anurag Basu. Basu is famed for hits like Barfi, Gangster, Life in a Metro and Kites. While the movie is associated with industry’s biggest names, the box office remains unpredictable as was the case with Salman Khan’s Tubelight. “Personally, if my film fails and I am making money out of it, then I will pay back the distributors,” Ranbir Kapoor added.
