Indu Sarkar trailer: National Award winning-filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar on Friday unveiled the first trailer of his upcoming film on the emergency of 1975 – Indu Sarkar. Within hours of its release on YouTube, the trailer of the movie created a huge buzz on social media. The film is set in the Emergency period between 1975 to 1977 declared by then prime minister Indira Gandhi. The nearly 2 minute trailer starts with the announcement of the Emergency. The interesting storyline inspired by true events is backbone of the film.
Neil Nitin Mukesh plays Sanjay Gandhi in the film while Supriya Vinod dons the role of former PM of India. The movie stars Kirti Kulhari and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles. Kirti, who was last seen in Amitabh Bachchan-Taapsee Pannu-starrer Pink, essays the role of a rebel poet in the emergency era. The film also features Tota Roy Chowdhury. Anu Malik and Bappi Lahiri have composed the music for the film. There are very bold and clear references to the Gandhi family in the trailer. The movie is set to be released on 28th July this year.

In the movie, Kirti Kulhari’s role promises to show a strong artist vs system duel.The trailer of the film was launched at an event in Mumbai amid the presence of the film’s star cast including Kirti Kulhari, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher and Bengali actor Tota Roy Chowdhury. The Bengali actor is making his Bollywood debut with Indu Sarkar.
Taking to Twitter, Bhandarkar said,”Time to unveil the story of a woman who stands against the system for justice, here is #InduSarkarTrailer.”
Earlier, after releasing Indu Sarkar poster, Bhandarkar had tweeted, “Truly humbled to see such a terrific response to #InduSarkar. Thank you to all my well wishers. Stay tuned for the trailer launch of June 16.”
Madhur Bhandarkar had read several books and did a lot of research in Nehru Centre in Delhi for this film, according to Times of India.
