For those who wanted to hear Rajinikanth mouth his powerful dialogues in Hindi today, there is a fortnight long delay in store. While the Tamil and Telugu version of the KS Ravikumar film has hit the screens today, the dubbed Hindi version has been pushed ahead by a couple of weeks. This has been done to exploit the regional versions optimally.
“Rajinikanth has a good fan following across the country. Even up North as well as Mahaharshtra belt, his Tamil and Telugu versions do quite well. This was first evidenced with Sivaji – The Boss where it did so well that multi-starrer Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, which released on the same day, had to suffer a jolt at many centers. Later, even though his Robot turned out to be the biggest grosser ever as far as dubbed films are concerned, the original Endhiran got its good share of eyeballs outside the four states down South. Hence, once all calculations were done, it was decided to bring just the regional versions first,” says our source.
As a result, the Hindi version is now expected to arrive on December 26.
“That would add on to the earning capacity of the film due to continued footfalls for many weeks,” our source adds, “Lingaa is a huge film with Rajinikanth in a double role. As a matter of fact this is his fourth film in succession where he is enacting a double role, be it Sivaji – The Boss, Endhiran, Kochadaiiyaan and now Lingaa. When it comes to Rajinikanth, ‘do mein zyaada mazaa hai’. Now the Hindi version would release ‘do hafte baad’. It is going to be double the celebrations.”
We tried contacting producers at Eros but they were unavailable for comment. However, we did receive a confirmation that the Hindi version of the film would now most likely arrive on December 26.
