Adding another feather to his hat, former wrestler and Fast And Furious star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been named this year’s People’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’. Johnson, 44, said in an interview with People magazine, “I thought, ‘Wow, we’ve pretty much reached the pinnacle.’ I’m not quite too sure where we go from here. I’ve done it all, this is it.” Talking about the reason for which his legions of fans find him sexy, he added, “A sense of humor. And I think probably just not trying to be sexy and just being cool and confident in your movies. I think with a lot of my fans, I’ve gotten to a very, very cool place where there’s a direct line between the man they know off-screen and the man they see on-screen.”
Making his accomplishment even more noteworthy is that the half-Samoan, half-black actor is the first non-white person to receive the title in the last two decades since Denzel Washington in 1996.
Sharing the news with his fans on Instagram, Johnson, whose next big screen venture is the animated film Moana, wrote, “Remember, sexy isn’t something you ‘try and be.’ Sexy happens naturally when you’re comfortable just being yourself. Trust me, I’m an expert at this.”
Previous recipients of the title include Chris Hemsworth, Adam Levine and Channing Tatum. Last year, the honour was bestowed upon former soccer star David Beckham.
