Dear Zindagi box office collections day 5: Shahrukh Khan and Alia Bhatt film’s earnings have gone up to Rs 40 crore, out of which Rs 32 crore were made on its opening week. Dear Zindagi’s day 5 earnings saw a bit of a slump, however, since its release on Friday, raking in Rs 4 crore at the box office. It’s also a slight dip after its day 4 (Monday) earnings of Rs 4.2 crore. Even so, Dear Zindagi has fared rather well for a film that was made with a niche audience in mind.
Shahrukh’s one liners from the film have created such a buzz online, one has to wonder if his “Don’t let your past to blackmail your present” dialogue is going to embed itself into the list of the actor’s most famous dialogues (a list that’s probably topped by K-k-k-kiran). Dear Zindagi’s songs, particularly the club remix of Let’s Break Up that has earned its own hashtag, have done a lot of keep the excitement around the film alive long after its release.
The film has managed to break a personal record for Gauri Shinde by overtaking her debut project English Vinglish’s box office earnings. English Vinglish, made on a budget of Rs 20 crore, was able to make Rs 40 crore during its entire run. Dear Zindagi, however, is clearly on its way to earn more, thanks to some solid praise from both critics and the Bollywood fraternity. Given the film’s current performance at the box office, it will probably settle at the Rs 60 crore mark, according to a report in Bollywood Hungama.
