Daddy box office collection day 2: Arjun Rampal starrer Daddy, which started off at a slow pace at the box office, has registered a growth in its collection on the second day. The box office collection for the second day stands at Rs 1.55 crore, according to koimoi.com. The film garnered Rs 1.30 crore on days 1, according to Bollywood Hungama. Daddy had an average occupancy of 20% on the opening day which hit the screens along with Sunny and Bobby Deol starrer Poster Boys. Considering there was Rampal in the film, it was expected to do much, much better.
Daddy is based on true events in the life of Mumbai gangster turned politician Arun Gawli. The movie is directed by Ashim Ahluwalia and revolves around the life of Gawli, a son of a jobless mill worker who makes it big as a gangster and turns out to be one of the most prominent faces of Mumbai underworld. A lot of anticipation was being made surrounding the movie, because this is the first time an attempt was being made to bring alive the character of mobster Arun Gawli who was one of the most prominent faces of Mumbai underworld.
Bollywood has seen a trail of movies based on the cliche theme of Mumbai underworld but Daddy had a totally different appeal to it. Despite the movie being well knit, the actors have delivered a mediocre performance though the film had ample scope for a better show. Arjun Rampal playing the protagonist fails to charm his audience by putting up an act convincing only in bits and parts. As a result, Daddy’s day 2 box office collection to hasn’t shown any impressive number. Daddy has to gear up its performance this week since ‘Bollywood Queen’ Kangana is all set to hit the screen with her much anticipated flick ‘Simran’.
