Director S Shankar’s 2.0 starring superstar Rajinikanth and ‘Khiladi’ Akshay Kumar is in the news again. The film’s release date has been postponed multiple number of times already and is now set to clash with ‘Mr Perfectionist’ Aamir Khan’s Thugs Of Hindostan this Diwali. While the makers of the two films are yet to confirm any detail about the release of the two film, a report by Bollywood Life states that the makers of 2.0 are approaching Aamir Khan for the Diwali 2018 release date. However, Khan reportedly said no to postpone the date of his film when the makers of 2.0 first approached him.
Towards the end of 2016, it was revealed that Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 was scheduled to be released on Diwali 2017, however the date was later postponed to January 2018. It did not even release then and the date was further shifted to April 2018. But with Rajinikanth’s Kaala Karikaalan releasing on April 27, 2018, Lyca Productions decided to postpone 2.0. According to the report, now Lyca Productions do not want the film to clash with Aamir Khan’s Thugs Of Hindostan as it will not be able to live upto its full potential with another movie like Thugs releasing on the same date.
Bollywood Life quoted an exclusive source saying that the makers want to release 2.0 during Diwali 2018 for which they approached Khan to discuss about the date. However, Khan seems in no mood to change the date of his film’s release as he feels that the festival of Diwali is the perfect time for his film and hence wants to hold on to the date. While the talk about the release date was stalled for some weeks, it has resumed about Thalaiva intervened. The sources was further quoted saying that after Rajinikanth made a call, the talks between the makers of the two films have started again ti finally come to a conclusion.
