Bhoomi box office collections day 5: This latest Sanjay Dutt starrer is not expected to go anywhere through the week. With the opening weekend restricted to just Rs 7.48 cr, the prospects for the film are quite bleak. In effect the BO figures have shown a thumbs down to the film and this is now set to remain in that position. Lifetime collection will cross into double figures, but not go beyond the current trend barring a miracle turnaround. BTW, there have been some movies that have managed to do that. The reason behind the bad show may not have to do with Sanjay Dutt though. What has been found fault with is the script. It is just not gelling well. Dutt has on his part dominated the screen just the way he usually does and impresses one and all.
But why have audiences not flocked to theatres to see the film? They were expected to, considering that this is Dutts first foray into films after being released from jail having served his sentence. While there was enough hype created around the movie and there was adequate marketing too, the result has not been according to expectations. In fact, even critics have not panned the film and even competition in the form of Newton was not really that fierce. With so many positives going for it, the conclusion left is that the fans were just not interested enough in the film and they did not care about finding out first han how the prison stint has affected Dutt. The film also failed to get any word of mouth boost and that can virtually kill a movie’s prospects.
And things will get worse as new releases are set to hit theatres and Bhoomi will be hit for a six – Judwaa 2 is releasing Friday.
