Anakin Skywalker, also known as Darth Vader, the iconic villain from “Star Wars” film series, is within the top 1,000 baby names in America.
According to the Social Security Administration, ‘Anakin’ was the 957th most popular name in America among boys in 2014, reported Entertainment Weekly.
The list states that 218 babes were born with the name ‘Anakin’, a number shared with Emmet, Baylor, Judson, and Truman.
Anakin is the father of Luke Skywalker, who is the central protagonist of the original film trilogy.
Luke is the 28th most popular name, with 10,431 newborns being named Luke last year.
Similarly, daughter of Anakin, Leia, is the 509th most popular name among girls, with 605 newborns with that name.
Interestingly, 368 newborn girls were named ‘Khaleesi’, after the mother of dragons on the popular fantasy-drama television series “Game of Thrones”.
