One of Akshay Kumar’s most appreciated movies, ‘Baby’ box office collections have made it his ninth biggest opening day grosser at Rs 9.3 crore. (Reuters)

Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Baby’ box office collections have crossed the Rs 50 crore mark over the extended four-day opening weekend. As expected, the movie has done good business on Sunday and Monday (Republic Day), collecting Rs 15.6 crore and Rs 14.90 crore respectively.

Neeraj Pandey-directed ‘Baby’ has garnered good reviews from critics and the word of mouth publicity too has been positive. Its showing has been strong in Mumbai, Delhi and Pune and small towns are also recording good figures.

One of Akshay Kumar’s most appreciated movies, ‘Baby’ is the ninth biggest opening day grosser for the actor with Rs 9.3 crore in a list topped by his 2012 release ‘Rowdy Rathore’ (Rs 15.10 crore).

Unfortunately, the movie has failed to make its mark on the overseas market, generating an unimpressive Rs 4.50 crore in the first few days. The majority of the business has come from the USA/Canada region with Rs 2.66 crore.
