Television and Bollywood actor Rajesh Vivek, who was mainly known for his roles in superhits like ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Swades’, and TV serials like Bharat Ki Khoj, Mahabharat, died of a heart attack in Hyderabad yesterday.
According to reports, he passed around 3 pm yesterday in Hyderbad.
Condolences poured from the nation as actors and politicians tweeted to pay their tributes to the actor.
“Rajesh Vivek. Wonderful actor and a friend. R I P,” Bollywood legend Rishi Kapoor tweeted.
“Sad to know about the demise of #RajeshVivek, one of the finest actors & a great human being. Lived a faqir’s life. RIP!,” Censor board member Ashoke Pandit said.
“#RajeshVivek We Will Always Remember Your Acting In Lagaan And Swadesh. You’ll Be In Our Memories Forever. #RIP,” Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja tweeted.
Vivek had also played role of Veda Vyasa, author of the Mahabharata in the popular series Mahabharat (TV series).
He made his mark as a villain in the beginning with films like Veerana and Joshilay, often playing roles of henchman- but later on he started doing comedic/supporting roles.
His last rites will be performed in Mumbai on Friday.
