A different Kabali review heads Rajinikanth’s way; from Bangalore with love

Bangalore: Rajinikanth is nothing if not loyal. He has always stood by his friends through thick and thin no matter what the consequences. And the same goes for pals he made when he was not a superstar, when he was a common man.

Bangalore: Rajinikanth is nothing if not loyal. He has always stood by his friends through thick and thin no matter what the consequences. And the same goes for pals he made when he was not a superstar, when he was a common man. In fact, far from it. And among those old friends is one he treasures the most – a bus driver who was a close chum when life for Rajinikanth was less than ordinary.

When was that? In the 1970s when Rajinikanth was bus conductor. He then forged a brotherly bond with the driver of the BMTC bus he was working on. And these bonds are very much alive and kicking today too – almost 50 years later!

P Raj Bahadur, 71, is the man concerned and he says that through the years nothing has affected their simple, but strong, friendship – not the fame, not the time betweeen meetings, not even the distance.

Bahadur reveals that both Rajinikanth and he meet often enough and either he comes to his humble house or they go to the plush one the actor owns in Bengaluru city.

In fact, Bahadur had a huge role in the making of Rajinikanth, the superstar. Knowing Rajini’s love for theatre and acting, Bahadur first encouraged him and thereafter even paid for a 2-year acting course where the actor was spotted by K Balachander who eventually cast him in ‘Apoorva Ragangal’.

According to a New Indian Express report, Bahadur stops all talk of credit. Bahadur humbly submitted, “He had the talent and made it big. I wanted him to become a star and I am happy beyond words that he made it.”

And the friendship spans movies too – Rajinikanth, according to Bahadur, eagerly waits for the critical review of his latest release, this time Kabali.

Saying that he will go and watch Kabali on the first day itself, Bahadur let it be known that Rajinikanth is always eager to know what he, Bahadur, thinks about his movie. He says Rajini values his critical analysis and actually takes note of it.

Bahadur also says that their relationship does not span money. He says it is totally restricted to friendship alone. He reveals that Rajinikanth is a very generous person and has offered him money and more many times, but he refuses to take any as he believes, this will spoil their relationship.
