A newly married bride from Lucknow became inspiration for many people who avoid casting their votes at the time of Elections. Manisha, a young voter from Lucknow decided to delay her journey to her husband’s house in order to cast her vote first. She got married on February 18, but she proposed the idea to cast her vote first and then leave for her groom’s house to which they readily agreed upon. Now, she will be going to her groom’s house.

Currently, voting in Uttar Pradesh is taking place in its third phase. The UP Assembly Elections began from February 11 and will end on March 8, 2017. The result for the elections will be announced on March 11. The importance of casting votes during elections are not understood by everyone, people miss going to the booth for several reasons that include personal commitments. But Manisha decided to delay her ceremony to cast her vote, and even made her in-laws agree to it. In an interview with ANI, she said that several Election Commission officials visited her house and explained the importance of voting to her and her family.
People should take inspiration from Manisha, and understand that standing in long queues to cast vote can make a better future. Raising awareness for voting is very important and people should that it is their duty towards the country to go and vote.
