Yogi Adityanath on the position of chief minister of Uttar Pradesh is something that the top leadership of BJP needs to keep a close watch on. And that’s what the Prime Minister’s office could be doing. Prime Minister’s office will be watching Yogi Adityanath’s moves and the man who will be doing it is Nripendra Mishra who is a close confidante of the Prime Minister and also an IAS officer of the UP cadre before his retirement. Looks like he will act as a go between the Prime Minister’s office and Yogi Adityanath as also keep an eye on the new chief minister.

Nripendra Mishra may be the right pick as he is the right hand man of the Prime Minister and is well tuned into him. Those who have worked for Nripendra Mishra swear by the man’s impeccable administration skills.
Appointing him might be an early indication that the Prime Minister is going to remote control Uttar Pradesh, and rightly so, as the state of Uttar Pradesh is extremely important with an eye on the 2019 general elections.

Besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi also realises that giving Uttar Pradesh chief ministership to Yogi Adityanath is a political experiment and it is an unconventional decision that could also backfire on them.

It is a fact that Yogi has no administrative experience. Will he be able to shoulder the responsibility well is what is may be party’s concern. More than that, his mandate may be to provide a clean and efficient administration that upholds law and order.

As it stands, Uttar Pradesh is one of India’s most underdeveloped states. And the prime Minister has to make sure that his developmental agenda is put in force as soon as possible as he stressed the Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas slogan and the fact that Uttar Pradesh has a huge potential to take a lead in India’s growth. So it is a huge task that hey have to watch out if the new chief minister is able to shoulder well.

The BJP leadership is aware that even though the 44-year-old yogi has several pluses with him as he is young and energetic and has a reputation of being honest, yet he may need to be mentored. Uttar Pradesh is a very complicated and populous state and need to be managed well. Adityanath is still a novice at managing.
