Congress party has won 77 out of 117 seats of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. Such a huge victory in the state after the gap of 10 years came as a pleasant surprise for the party, that received a historic drubbing in Uttar Pradesh on the same day. Congress couldn’t even win 10 seats in 403-member Legislative Assembly in Uttar Pradesh. In Punjab, the SAD-BJP combine failed to win much seats but they seem to have maintained their rapport with core supporters as the alliance receieve around 31% vote share in the state. This was way more than AAP (23%). However, AAP managed to win two more seats (20) than SAD-SP.
