Gujarat polls results 2017: It is BJP vs Congress on Twitter; what they are saying, blow by blow account

As the counting for this year's biggest assembly elections goes on in Gujarat and trends show BJP leading in 100 seats while Congress is ahead in 70-75 seats, the reactions by Twitterati are coming in fast and furious.

As the counting for this year’s biggest assembly elections goes on in Gujarat and trends show BJP leading in 100 seats while Congress is ahead in 70-75 seats, the reactions by Twitterati are coming in fast and furious. For them it is a straight fight between Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi and the users on the social networks are split right down the middle. Very strong words are flying indicating how critical the result is for all. The Gujarat elections are being seen as the litmus test for PM Narendra Modi which is also expected to have some impact in the 2019 general elections. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who earlier trailed behind his Congress rival Indranil Rajyaguru after the counting of postal ballots, has now won in Rajkot West seat. Among the other BJP candidates, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel is leading over Congress candidate Jivabhai Patel by 3,000 votes in Mehsana. In the 2012 elections, the BJP had won 115 seats while the Congress emerged victorious on 61 seats. The BJP has been ruling the state since 1995.
