Thanking for the unprecedented support which was received from all sections of society, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the huge support of the youth is gladdening in Uttar Pradesh.

Thanking for the unprecedented support which was received from all sections of society, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the huge support of the youth is gladdening in Uttar Pradesh. He also thanked Amit Shah, party office bearers & state units for their exemplary work in taking the party to new heights. “Every moment of our time, everything we do is for welfare & well-being of the people of India. We believe in the power of 125 crore Indians,” he added. Talking about Punjab, he said “I thank people of Punjab for giving Akali Dal and BJP the opportunity to serve for 10 years & for the support we got in these polls.”

Stating that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved 3/4th majority in both Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Amit Shah on Friday said addressing a press conference that it is the biggest win in these states post independence. “I congratulate people of all the five states for mandate that they have given today. Our win will end dynasty politics and casteism in national politics,” he further said. When asked what really worked for BJP in its favour, Shah said, “Reforms like demonetisation, Jan Dhan Yojana, electrification have received huge support from the people”. Earlier today he said, “Election is fought only to be won, there is no middle way.”

Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh described the BJP’s performance in assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand as “mega victory”, saying the party has changed the political narrative in the country with the win. “This is not a victory but a mega victory. The BJP has changed the political narrative of the country by touching new heights of success in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand,” he said here on the results of the assembly polls.

The BJP has crossed the half-way mark in Uttar Pradesh and is presently leading in 313 seats of the 403-member assembly. The Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance is ahead in 65 seats while the Bahujan Samaj Party has so far managed to bag just 17 seats in its kitty. Uttar Pradesh went to polls in seven phases in the months of February and March. A total of 4,854 candidates are in fray for 403 assembly constituencies.
