JEE Advanced Result 2017 topper: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced results were announced on June 11, 2017 by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras at 10 AM. Around 2.20 lakh top scorers from the JEE Main 2017 were given a chance to sit for JEE Advanced examination this year, however, only 1.7 lakh candidates registered for the exam that was conducted on May 21st, 2017. A total of 10.20 lakh students had appeared in the JEE Main exam this year. JEE -Advanced also known as IIT-JEE examinations are conducted every year for admission to all the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian School of Mines (ISM). While Sarvesh Mehtani from Panchkula, Chandigarh secured the All India Rank (AIR) 1; Akshat Chugh from Pune, Maharashtra came second and Ananye Agarwal from Delhi came third. Here are the stories of some other students who made it through the most difficult entrance exam and that too without much resources to bank on back home –
V Mohan Abhyas- AIR 64- Son of a samosa seller with a score of 339 out of 366 secured an All India rank of 64. Earlier, Mohan had secured 6th rank in JEE Mains, topped AP EAMCET and bagged 5 position in Telangana EAMCET.
Kaplit Veerwal- AIR 109- Udaipur, Rajasthan’s Kaplit Veerwal who is the son of a compounder secured who topped JEE mains with a perfect score of 360/360, secured an All India Rank 109 in JEE Advance.
Nitin Diwakar- AIR 800- Auto driver’s son Nitin from Mumbai’s Kandivali East with a score of 266 out of 366 ranked 800th rank and wants to become a mechanical engineer. He will be applying to IIT Bombay for the said programme.
Sunil Kumar- AIR 881- Son of an Ice Cream seller, 18-year-old Sushil Kumar clears JEE Advance in second attempt. Secures AIR 115 in OBC category, 881 in general category with a score of 266 out of 366. Kumar cleared his class 12th from CBSE last year with 91.6 per cent marks. While talking about his sucess he sid, “Last year, I had qualified for JEE mains but could not qualify JEE advance. I had no idea how to go about it. I plan to study either in Kanpur or Kharagpur….I am yet to decide on a profession though.”
