At Rajkiya Uchchya Vidyalaya, in Haryana’s Nuh district, Zafir Khan is the only student in his class who not only cleared his class 10th exams but also scored a decent 69.4%. The results for Haryana Class 10th were declared on the 22nd May and unfortunately, only one out of the class of 40 could make the cut, according to Indian Express reports. 16 year old Zafir Khan and his parents were ecstatic but the anger of his classmates and their parents were evident. According to Indian Express reports, two days after the result was announced, parents of class 10th students at Rajkiya Uchchya Vidyalaya locked the school in protest following which the school had to transfer two teachers Dharam Singh and Mohammad Ilyas.
Zafar, who is a resident of Kolgaon village joined the school in class 10th itself, earlier, he was studying at a private school Ahmed Memorial Public School.
His parents said that Zafar was a sincere kid and they never had to nag him for studying. Zafar also did not have many complaints against the teachers, much unlike his classmates who accused the teachers of not showing interest in taking classes and being busy with “meetings and other things”.
Talking to Indian Express, one of the student also said that all the teachers used to drink tea and eat Parle-G biscuits through the entire day. Another student claimed that there is no discipline in the school.
The teachers, however did not agree with the accusations and said that inspite of several problems at the ground level, the teachers give their best. They claimed that students did not study at home and have to do household chores, working in the farms and take care of their siblings. Pointing to other problems, teachers blamed government’s no-detention policy and also children don’t buy books in class 9th and 10th. They also said that girls don’t learn anything till class 9th and are directly admitted in school in either class 9th or 10th.
Where Zafar now plans to clear entrances, other students in his class are planning to reappear for class 10th exams.
