CBSE 12th Result 2017: In a major relief for the students over the board’s grace marks policy, the Central Board of Secondary Education has decided not to approach the Supreme Court of India against Delhi High Court’s order to continue the moderation policy. The board on May 25, had decided to challenge the HC’s order in the apex court but now it has decided not to do so. This may result in the board soon declaring the Class 12th / Senior School Certificate Examination results soon which have now been pending for almost a week. Earlier the board was slated to declare the results on May 24th after it scrapped the marks moderation policy last month – an order by the Delhi High Court led to a delay in the announcement. This has been time consuming and the students are waiting anxiously for their results as they have a tight schedule for the higher education entrance examinations.

On May 24th, the Delhi High Court slammed CBSE’s move against grace marks and termed it ‘unfair and irresponsible.’ They had further said that the decision ‘would have a drastic effect on the students.’ Delhi HC bench consisting of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Pratibha M Singh took this decision of order CBSE to continue with its moderation policy as they believe that CBSE cannot implement a change in the policy as the results are due to be announced.

This command by the High Court came as a major relief to the students as now they have a chance to secure more marks. The HC bench passed the order on the basis of a PIL that was filed by a parent and a lawyer contending that the policy should not be done away with this year.

According to an earlier notification on indiaresults.com the board was likely to announce the class 12th results on May 24th and class 10th results on June 2nd, but after this new order to CBSE by the High Court, there is no intimation about the result declaration date and students have been left dismayed. In the year 2016, the 12th results were declared on May 21st and class 10th on May 28th.
