Bihar topper Ganesh Kumar scam: After the arrest of Ganesh Kumar on June 2, Patna police has detained the principal who was in-charge of the Samastipur school. The principal has been detained by the principal for questioning. Earlier on Saturday, Patna police had arrested a middleman who helped Ganesh in getting enrolled in the school. During the investigation, the middle-man dropped hints about the involvement of the principal in the scam. The Bihar Board Class 12th examination results were declared on May 30 and Ganesh Kumar topped the intermediate examination in Arts segment. The rumour about another topper scam in Bihar surfaced when Ganesh Kumar was unable to answer questions related to his own subjects in which he scored very well, according to an Indian Express report.
The accused topper Ganesh who forged his documents and enrolled himself as 24-years-old, in reality, is a 41-year-old man who is the father of two. Manu Maharaj, the Patna Senior Superintendent of Police said, “We have detained the in-charge principal of the Samastipur school to know if he played a role in Ganesh hiding his age.”
Ganesh has been booked by the police under various sections of IPC for cheating, criminal conspiracy and forgery.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar while briefing the media about the topper scam this year said that people who are trying to defame the image of Bihar are not from outside but from within the state (Bihar ki chhavi ko bahar kharaab karne mein, Bihar ke bahar ke logon ki nahi Bihar ke andar ke logon ki hi bhumika hai.)
