State-run Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) has been conferred first runners up trophy in ‘Best Hydro Power Generator’ category by Independent Power Producers Association of India (IPPAI).
The award has been conferred on SJVN for its outstanding performance in the area of operation and maintenance of hydro power stations, a SJVN said in statement here.
IPPAI which was set up as a not-for-profit association shortly after the Government of India opened the power sector to private industry in 1994 had organised Power Awards during the 17th Regulators and Policymakers Retreat at Goa.
Hydro Power is the core strength of SJVN and the Company has the distinction of implementing India’s largest 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station and 412 MW Rampur hydropower projects in Himachal Pradesh.
In addition, SJVN has 47.6 MW Khirvire Wind Power Project in Maharashtra, which is already in operation.
SJVN is also implementing 12 other projects in Nepal, Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
