PM Narendra Modi in his speech while addressing the Rail Vikas Shivir at Surajkund via video conferencing laid out his vision for the Indian Railways today. Among the foremost of these were plans to ensure the Railways take the mantra of ‘gati’ (speed) and ‘pragati’ (development) to heart. He also said that the lineage between him and the Railways goes a long way back saying, “My childhood was spent on rail platforms. That is all the more reason I want to transform railways.” Here is what PM Modi said at the event:

1. Saari duniya ki rail badal gayi, kya kaaran hai ki hum ek seema mein bandh gaye hain

2. Desh ko gati chahiye toh bhi rail se milegi aur pragati chahiye to bhi rail se milegi

3. This is a technology driven century. Innovation is important. Railways has to be about both ‘Gati’ and ‘Pragati’

4. Desh me pragati lane ke liye zaruri hai ke hamara railway pragati kare

5. Each official doing their own work is good but we also have to work together & think about how we want the Railways to be

6. Our Railways has to develop and be financially strong. This benefits India and particularly those working for the Railways

7. Usually the core focus of Rail budgets was- which MP was pleased by being given more stops in his/her seat, additional coaches etc

8. The focus of our Rail Budgets has never been politics. We have worked towards a paradigm shift in the Railways

9. The century has changed and so must the systems in our Railways. I am confident the team that we have can achieve this

10. Mera rail se bahut purana naata hai, mera bachpan rail ki patri par guzra hai. Main aapki tarah rail wala hi hu

Vision of PM sir is very good but unfortunately can't be achieved till the root cause blocking the development is not eliminated. In fact railway needs major reforms in its working and distribution of powers. Actual picture of non development of Railways is either not known to the politicians or they are hiding. In fact route cause is corruption which can't be seen by bare eyes. To see this we have to enter in the system and the system is only known to the people working in the Railways. But the people who knows everything are not the part of decision making further rahey can't raise any voice against corruption as they always remain in fear of transfer, chrgesheet harment etc. No doubt some people are part of corruption but most of them are not. I reiterate the fact that govt should encourage supervisory level by making environment to work fearlessly, most of the problems will be resolved automatically.
