Monsoon to hit Delhi on July 1, says Skymet

Monsoon rainfall remains strong & will retain its momentum in the days ahead. It is likely to cover Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan in the next three days, says IMD.

Monsoon rainfall remains strong & will retain its momentum in the days ahead. It is likely to cover Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan in the next three days, according to Indian Meteorlogical Department (IMD).

However, Skymet weather predicts the onset date for Monsoon in Delhi as July 1.

According to Skymet Weather, it is expected that July rains will cover the deficiency, all over the country, leftover by June during the first half of the month itself.

The country will come under the influence of three weather systems by then and will see some heavy rain activity during the first week of July.

The depression in North Arabian Sea will continue to prevail. Though the system is marked off the Oman coast but it will continue to push humid winds up to Gujarat and Rajasthan. While, the other cyclonic circulation over Chhattisgarh and adjoining parts of Maharashtra will move in west-northwest direction towards Madhya Pradesh, feels the weather forecaster.

The third will be the fresh Western Disturbance which is likely to travel across Jammu and Kashmir by July 1. With all these systems together, rain activity will now shift over Central and North India. Meanwhile, West Coast will also continue with good Monsoon rains, expects Skymet.
