Ministry of Urban Development on Monday said that 115 cities have launched water supply and sewerage projects under the Atal Mission. With a green flag shown to this scheme, here are some important facets to know: The total cost of the water supply and the sewerage projects is said to be Rs 6,346 crore. The ministry says that 20 cities have taken up the scheme worth more than Rs 100 crore each. It also said that 20 more cities took the scheme worth Rs 50 crore each. In addition to this, it said that the work for 87 Smart City projects costing Rs 5,768 crore is in progress moreover, according the Ministry, 7 Smart City Projects have been completed by now. The Atal Mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June last year.
Plans worth Rs 2,700 crore were cleared by the Ministry of Urban Development last year after AMRUT action plans for state level for 89 cities in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan was approved by the Ministry of state-level action.

According to a statement, 490 projects with an investment of Rs 6,571 have taken off. Out of these, 102 projects are for providing water connections to households and 41 sewerage and septage management projects. 319 more projects worth Rs 9,686 cr too are near completion. In addition to this, the ministry says that the work is under progress for “open and green” spaces in nearly all the 500 mission cities. The ministry, in the statement also points out that investment worth Rs 30,657 crore has also been approved under the Atal Mission.
