  • Consumer durables major LG Electronics today said that the government should offer incentives to the export-oriented industries and rationalize taxes in the upcoming Budget to make India a global manufacturing hub.

"India is on the path of becoming a global player as manufacturing hub for all exports to Europe, the US and Africa. To achieve this goal, (the) government need to focus on export industry and special schemes...," LG Electronics India Managing Director Moon B Shin said in a statement.

To prepare a common platform for manufacturing units, the government must look for implementation of Gooods and Service Tax (GST) as promised in the previous budget, Shin said.

The tax boundaries need to be rationalised and state sales tax should be communised without any exception of the states putting any additional tax, he added.

India has a strong domestic economy and it is one of the most attractive destinations for the business and investment opportunity. The continuous duty reduction has helped the consumer durable industry in achieving a high growth rate, Shin said.
