Budget 2016: Rahul Gandhi taunts Narendra Modi over MGNREGA

Budget 2016: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that the General Budget lacks both vision and conviction. "Modi ji spent the first 2 years mocking the Congress Party's focus on farmers, MNREGA, Rural dev and social spending. Now mere rhetoric, without vision or action, will fool neither farmers nor the poor of this country. Budget2016 lacks both vision and conviction," he said in a series of tweets.

Budget 2016: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that the General Budget lacks both vision and conviction. “Modi ji spent the first 2 years mocking the Congress Party’s focus on farmers, MNREGA, Rural dev and social spending. Now mere rhetoric, without vision or action, will fool neither farmers nor the poor of this country. Budget2016 lacks both vision and conviction,” he said in a series of tweets.

He said that the budget is full of new promises without any account of tall promises made in last two budgets. The Congress vice-president, however, thanked Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for accepting his recommendation on removing import duty on Braille paper to help the visually impaired persons.

The grand old party criticised the General Budget tabled in the Parliament saying there is no big idea in it.

Briefing media here in the national capital, former Finance Minister and senior party leader P Chidambaram said there is no relief for the tax payer or for the middle class in the budget. He said little has been done to encourage private investments which leave many projects stranded.

Presenting his third successive Budget in the Lok Sabha today, Finance Minister Jaitley listed nine thrust areas of tax proposals to transform India.

To provide relief to small tax payers, he proposed to raise the ceiling of tax rebate under section 87A from Rs. 2,000 to five thousand for income not exceeding Rs. 5 lakh.

Two crore tax payers will get a relief of Rs. 3,000. Additional deduction of Rs. 36,000 a year is proposed for those who do not own any house or get any house rent allowance.

They will get an exemption up to Rs 60,000 now. Presumptive taxation extended to professionals with gross receipts up to Rs. 50 lakh.

I saw in TV Rahul without answering the questions raised by media persons his reaction because he is an illiterate and can't understand what budget is. He just told afterwards getting scripts from Anand Sharma or some others from his party. Having ruled for the last 60 years India has not become strong. If the amount spent to agri. lot of generations of employment and money which will be in circulation. Having given sops to industrialists the NPA of banks increased in lacs of crores and govt. injects the money to safe the banks. The ex FM in his last and several budgets written off crores of rupees of farmers but in reality the rich farmers alone benefited and the small and marginal left high and dry and committed suicides. Even in Cong ruled and ruling states the same happens. He has no moral right to question NDA.

MNREGA though the brain child of cong. was modified by NDA so that the real rural poor should be benefited atleast for 100 days in a year. In UPA this scheme was brutally misused by govt. officials and politicians in hand and glove and the register shows 100% attendance and the money was looted for example TN and the money shared by officials, politicians and TASMAC and n o work worth the name was done. This govt. has done stringent measures and the wages is paid for the exact work done after verification.

NDA should bring out money swindling cases in MGNAREGA under UPA. I am hopeful that such swindling will not occur under NDA.

What is this guy's qualification to even comment on this? Spent most of his life partying in foreign countries and now talks like he is the only savior left for the country. Intellectual amoeba.

This is the perfectly balanced reformist budget. Reforms have been hijacked by corporate & elite. Rural spending is the essential reform that country like India needs. Needless questions are put, why Mr.Modi did not spend on rural section in the last two budgets. I had commented his earlier budgets also that first the country has to make money to spend. Only if you have it in the vessel, you will get it in the hand. Modi has precisely done that. He has spent his energy on maximising revenue and now he is channeling the hard earned revenue in the right direction. As simple as writing on the back of postage stamp as quoted by Modi during campaign.

It took some time for Modi to learn basics of Indian Politics. Running poor India is not running a state which was industrially developed by British for over 400 years .
