Toyota Kirloskar Motors is all set to debut the 2017 Fortuner in India on 7th November 2016. The current generation Fortuner has garnered a huge fan following and the same is expected from the upcoming model. The new model has a host of new gizmos and a number of engine as well as gearbox options that make this SUV, all the more desirable. Powertrain options for the new Fortuner include two new Toyota GD series diesel engines and a petrol option as well. All the units are the same that have been seen in the recently introduced Innova Crysta. The 2.4 L diesel generates 146hp of max power and 400Nm of peak torque, while the 2.8 L mill will produce 173hp and 450Nm. The petrol motor will be a 2.7 L that will churn out a good 160hp and 245Nm. All engines are expected to come with options of automatic and manual gearboxes along with a shift-on-the-fly 4X4 system.
In terms of the design, the 2017 Fortuner will have a more chic appearance and despite its size, it looks sleeker than the current iteration's brawny silhouette. The revised bumper with an integrated fog lamp and swept-back head lamps with bi-xenon LED projector headlamps with DRLs and silver accents for the three slat chrome grille lend a premium feel to the exterior. The side has strong shoulder lines with a hint of silver accents on the door handles and the rear sports an elegant tail lamp unit with LEDs in them. A thick chrome garnish with the badging further compliments the rear.
Additional features would include a traction control system, electrically adjustable driver's seat, downhill assist control system, cruise control, reverse parking camera with sensors and a lot more. So, in case you are looking for a premium SUV that can prove its worth, both off-road and on-road, we would suggest, wait a little longer!
