Hyundai India that recently ramped up the Creta's monthly production from 5,000 to 7,000, is now planning to make 10,000 units of the compact SUV from December 2015. With over 70,000 bookings since launch, waiting period for the Hyundai Creta is up to 3 months currently.

Increase in production will not only bring down the waiting period considerably in India, it will also help the company export the vehicle in high numbers as it has been receiving overwhelming response from other markets as well. Hyundai claims to have received over 15,770 global orders for the Creta.

Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice-president, sales and marketing, HMIL said, “The Hyundai Creta launched in July as the perfect SUV is a trendsetter in the Indian market. CRETA heralded a new chapter in Hyundai’s success story across the world showcasing HMIL’s success of ‘Make in India’ manufacturing initiative. Now the CRETA goes global and we have received strong response from world markets,”

Available in 11 variants across 4 trims, the Hyundai Creta is priced between Rs 8.7 lakh - Rs 13.8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Hyundai's compact SUV is offered in three engine options - 1.4-litre CRDi diesel (89bhp), 1.6-litre CRDi (126bhp) diesel and a 1.6-litre VTVT petrol (121bhp) engine. While the variants powered by a 1.4-litre CRDi diesel and 1.6-litre VTVT petrol get a 6-speed manual gearbox, the 1.6-litre diesel engined-version is available with two transmission options - a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
