Expanding its in-house portfolio in India, home grown bikemaker, Hero MotoCorp has introduced the Achiever 150 at a price tag of Rs 61,800 for the drum brake variant and Rs 62,800 for the disc brake one, both being ex-showroom, Delhi prices. Changes include a first-in-class automatic headlamp unit, i3S technology for the engine, new analog and digital speedometer with side stand indicator, larger fuel tank and new body graphics. The company has also introduced a limited edition variant to commemorate the country's 70th year of independence and sale of 70 million units through the entire product portfolio till date.

Some more design changes include minor tweaks to the headlight unit, a larger visor, added bulge to the fender, slightly tweaked rear fender and taillight. On the occasion, Pawan Munjal, Chairman, Managing Director & CEO, Hero MotoCorp Ltd said, “As the dominant market leader in both 100cc & 125cc segments in the domestic market, we are now looking at expanding our presence in the premium segment as well and the New Achiever 150 is a move in that direction. Over the years, we have continuously reinvented ourselves with the changing times to set new global benchmarks and cross several milestones. The 70 million cumulative production is special because this has been possible due to our sustained leadership performance. This is a proud moment not just for us as a Company, but also for the entire nation, especially with the Prime Minister’s focus on the ‘Make in India’ initiative. However, instead of resting on our laurels, we are now gearing up for the next Big Milestone of 100 Million cumulative production.”

In terms of mechanicals, the new engine is a 150cc petrol unit, similar to the earlier one that was borrowed from Honda. However, this one has been developed indigenously and features a start-stop function. The commuter motorcycle will now turn off when idling in neutral and restart once the clutch is depressed. This new system increases fuel efficiency. Power and torque figures remain unchanged at 13.4hp at 8,000 rpm and 12.8 Nm at 5,000 rpm and the 0-60 kmph figure is achieved in five seconds flat. The Achiever 150 would be available in three colour options apart from the tricolour livery namely Panther Black Metallic, Candy Blazing Red & Ebony Grey Metallic.
