Despite being compact in size, the BMW Concept Compact Sedan creates a familiar sedan silhouette based around a proper three-box design.
BMW Group has unveiled an all-new four door BMW compact sedan concept at the 2016 Auto Guangzhou, which could become a basis for an upcoming entry-level sedan. The production-ready model of the car could rival Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and Audi A3 upon its launch. The BMW Compact Sedan concept looks like the same 1-series platform (UKL) based car that the company has been testing for quite a long time.
Despite being compact in size, the BMW Concept Compact Sedan creates a familiar sedan silhouette based around a proper three-box design. The sweeping bonnet, prominent character lines running across the length and slightly set-back green house helps the car look quite attractive.
The vehicle's interior too look quite plush with exclusive Nappa leather,open-pored wood and brushed aluminium spreading across the whole of the instrument panel, whose leather-covered top surface with contrast stitching. Other interesting elements in the cabin include polished aluminium surrounded instrument panel and orange-coloured contour lighting.
Though the company hasn't revealed the engines that will power the product based on BMW Compact Sedan concept, we expect it to share its powertrains with other UKL platform-based vehicles like 1-series and 2-series.
There is no official word yet about the company's plans of bringing the BMW Compact Sedan to India, but it makes sense for the company to bring it here especially when other two luxury compact sedan - Mercedes-Benz CLA and Audi A3- are generating good volume for their respective makers. Also, the company already sells the 1-series here which shares the same paltform and components with the compact sedan.
