Piaggio India will begin the sales of its upcoming scooter, the Aprilia SR 150 this month, which is priced at an introductory price of Rs. 65,000, ex-showroom. Manufacturing for the scooter has already begun at Piaggio's plant at Baramati, Maharashtra. The first SR 150 to roll out of the plant features a Matte Black colour. The scooter shares its engine with the Vespa 150, a 150cc, 3-valve, SOHC, air-cooled, four-stroke engine that develops 11.4bhp and 11.5Nm of torque. The plant also manufactures the Piaggio Vespa scooters in the country.
Earlier showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Aprilia SR 150 is a gearless scooter which has been designed for the riders who looking for a sport bike as well the convenience of automatic scooters for their daily commute. The SR 150 has an attractive design and features that consist of a pointed front apron with dual headlights, 14-inch wheels, turn indicators on the handlebar and two-tone body paints with graphics.
The crossover sport-scooterbike will be sold across Vespa dealerships. The pre-booking for the SR 150 has already begun, while the deliveries are expected to commence in September this year. The 150 scooter will come loaded with features such as sporty decals, alloy wheels, semi-digital speedometre, odometre and tripmetre, clock, electric start and tubeless tyres.
The Aprilia SR 150 will also get telescopic forks at the front and a single side coil spring suspension at the rear. For effective braking, the two-wheeler has equipped the SR 150 with a 220 mm disc brake in front and a 140 mm drum brake at the axle.
