The Volkswagen Vento is an executive sedan offered in India by the German carmaker. It is powered by one diesel and two petrol engine option. The diesel engine and the smaller 1.2 litre petrol engine are offered with a DSG dual clutch automatic gearbox while the diesel engine is also offered with a 5 speed manual transmission. The larger 1.6 litre petrol engine is mated only to a 5 speed manual transmission. The Volkswagen Vento measures 4,390 mm in length, 1,699 mm in width, 1,497 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,553 mm. All variants are offered with body coloured door handles, ORVMS (Outside Rear View Mirrors) and front as well as rear bumpers. The higher versions also have chrome lining on the bumpers. The top end trim is also offered with alloy wheels, LED headlamps, LED tail lamps and static cornering lamps along with fog lamps.
The Volkswagen Vento is offered with a dual tone interior colour theme of black and beige. Higher variants also have leather seat upholstery and an infotainment system. This system supports Bluetooth connectivity along with USB, AUX, SD and radio playback. The higher trims are also offered with an automatic climate control, steering mounted phone as well as audio controls and a cooled glovebox. Standard features on the Volkswagen Vento include foldable grab handles with coat hooks, 12V charging points, cup holders for front passengers and boot illumination.
Powering the Volkswagen Vento are three engine options, a 1.6 litre petrol engine, a 1.2 litre petrol engine and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. The 1.6 litre petrol engine generates 104 hp of power at 5,250 rpm and 153 Nm of torque. The 1.2 litre petrol engine generates 101 hp of power at 5,000 rpm and 175 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm to 4,100 rpm. The diesel engine churns out 109 hp of power at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque between 1,500 rpm and 3,000 rpm.
The Volkswagen Vento is offered with three transmission options. The 1.6 litre petrol engine is mated only to a 5 speed manual transmission while the 1.2 litre petrol unit comes only with a 7 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. The diesel engine is offered with a 5 speed manual transmission as well as a 7 speed DSG dual clutch automatic transmission.
All Volkswagen Vento variants currently sold in India are offered with dual front airbags, ABS (Anti lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), engine immobiliser with floating code and three point ELR seatbelts as standard. The DSG automatic variants are also offered with Electronic Stabilisation Programme or traction control and Hill Hold Assist.
Rated fuel efficiency of the Volkswagen Vento 1.6 petrol variants is 16.09 kmpl while that of the 1.2 petrol automatic versions is 18.19 kmpl. The diesel engine mated to the manual transmission offers 22.27 kmpl while the automatic variants deliver 22.15 kmpl. These mileage figures are comparable to its segment.
