Kawasaki began as a shipping company as Kawasaki Tsukiji Shipyard founded by Shozo Kawasaki in 1878. After decades, Kawasaki built their first motorcycle engine in 1952 whose development was started in 1949. Kawasaki Heavy Industries is into manufacturing motorcycles, ATVs, utility vehicles and jet-ski personal watercrafts. Kawasaki entered into a technical partnership with Bajaj in 1984 to manufacture and sell motorcycles in India. In 2010, India Kawasaki Motors Private Limited was established as a sole subsidiary of KHI, Japan. Currently, Kawasaki sells following motorcycles in India – KLX 110, Ninja 300, Z650, Ninja 650, Z900, ZX10R, ZX14R, Ninja H2 and Ninja H2R.
