Tata Nano AMT - Under Rs 4 lakh: Ratan Tata’s dream to bring in a affordable car for the mass market might not have been as successful as he would have liked but Tata Motors still went ahead and launched the Tata Nano GenX with many exterior and interior changes in 2015. The company also introduced an AMT gearbox or Easy Shift AMT (as the company calls) on the Tata Nano . Tata Nano AMT features a sports mode that improves acceleration and also offers creep function that allows the car to roll itself as soon as the break pedal is disengaged. Tata Motors claims a mileage of 21.9 kmpl. Tata Nano AMT is available in two variants and is priced between Rs 3.01 – 3.20 lakh (Ex-Delhi).
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 AMT - Under Rs 5 lakh: India’s top-selling car Maruti Suzuki Alto got a fresh face and a new 1L engine in 2015 and the company had also introduced the AMT gearbox or Auto gear shift technology (AGS) on its Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 variant. Maruti’s small car is better on performance due to its reduced weight. The car weighs ablomst 75 kgs less than the regular model which helps the car to improve its overall performance and fuel efficiency. Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 AGS is priced at Rs 4.09 lakh (Ex-Delhi).
Renault Kwid AMT - Under Rs 5 lakh: Renault India’s bet on the small car market has proven successful for the company. The company has been introducing new variants on the Kwid and just after launching the Renault Kwid with a 1L engine the company went ahead and launched the car with its Easy-R technology that offers an AMT gearbox with a rotary dial. The 5-speed gearbox has a knob mounted on the dash and has three basic driving modes. The car is also the only AMT in its segment to get a touchscreen infotainment system that supports navigation. Renault India has priced its AMT Kwid competitively at Rs a starting price of Rs 3.78 lakh (Ex-Delhi) and the Kwid Climber variant with AMT is priced at Rs 4.49 lakh (Ex-Delhi).
Maruti Suzuki Celerio AMT - Under Rs 6 lakh: Maruti Suzuki Celerio was the first car in the company’s portfolio to flaunt the AMT gearbox with EZ Drive AGS technology. At a starting price of Rs 4.69 lakh (Ex-Delhi, Celerio with its overall offering remains one of the best offering in this segment. The company claims a mileage of 26.02 kmpl on the Celerio AMT.
Tata Tiago AMT - Under Rs 6 lakh: Tata Motors introduced the AMT gearbox on its Tiago hatchback recently and is the latest offering in the market is only available on the top spec XZA variant. The engine continues to be the same 1.2L 3-cylinder engine that also powers the Tata Tigor. The 5-Speed gear box gets the AMT module mated to a gear-shift lever very similar to that we have seen on the Tata Zest and Tata Nano. The price of Tata Tiago AMT starts at Rs 4.92 lakh (ex-Delhi).
