But ride a 1000cc to work everyday and the adrenaline rush is converted to discomfort. Following is a list of motorcycles that are fast, but don't burn a hole in your pocket.
TVS Apache RTR 200 4V: The RTR200 is powered by 4-valve, oil-cooled single cylinder engine which makes 19.7 hp at 8500 rpm (carburetor variant) and 20.7 hp at 8500 rpm (EFI variant). Maximum torque output is 18.1 Nm at 7000 rpm. It can attain a top speed of 127 kmph (carb) and 129 kmph (EFI). The Carburator version of the Apache RTR 200 V4 costs you Rs. 88,990, whereas the Fuel Injection variant has been priced at Rs. 1,07,000 (Prices are Ex-showroom, Delhi).
Bajaj Pulsar 200NS: Perhaps the most powerful of the lot, the 200 NS is powered by a 4-stroke, 4-valve, liquid cooled, single cylinder engine, that produces 23.19 hp at 9500 rpm and 18.3 Nm of torque at 8000 rpm. It is capable of 135 kmph of top speed and is has a price tag strating at Rs 92,509 and Rs 1,03,946 for the top end.
Suzuki Gixxer: It carries the name of the legendary GSXR1000 and takes design inspiration from GSX S1000, and quite delivers to its promises with a 4-stroke, single cylinder, air-cooled, 2-valve engine. It develops 14.5 bhp at 8000 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. It too is capable of 120 kmph. It is priced from Rs 77,453 to Rs 81,529 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Yamaha FZS FI: The FZ FI comes with a 149cc air-cooled 4-stroke 2-valve unit that makes 12.9 bhp at 8000 rpm and 12.8 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. It will about 120 kmph of top speed, but has fairly good grunt on the mid rev range and provides comfortable city riding. It is priced in a range of Rs 82,789 to 83,789 (ex-showroom).
Honda CB Hornet 160R: The Hornet 160R has seen a price cut of about Rs 720 and hence, the new price sticker on it is Rs 86,300 for the top end CBS model. It is powered by a 162.71 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that makes 15.44 bhp and 14.76 Nm of torque.
